Are You aware, that there are over 300.000 Vampires, Sasquatches, Ghouls Dragons
and Free Spirits in Seattle! And this rough estimate is according to the official
figures (as in the Seattle SB). As most of these Creatures normally do not appear in
statistics, the real number is probably trice.
This would mean, that every uninhabited place is swarmed by these Creatures and you
can meet a Sasquatch nearly every Day on the street.
I think the "Other"-Number is much to high in every sourcebook.

I don't see why other couldn't refer to anyone/thing who doesn't have a SIN.
Which in essence would include all(most) of us. In this case the percentages
in the sourcebooks would be more close to on target.

Just a thought-

One sourcebook (denver, I beleive) states what that "Other" percentage
refers to. (other than in Aztlan, where it does indeed apply to free
spirits and dragons:-). It appears that the Awakening went poorly for
some people. Their genetic code for awakening was damaged, and you end
up with "freaks of nature." 1.5 m tall metahumans w/ dermal deposits,
horns, and decreased perception, tall, thin people with thermographic
vision, and orkish fangs. Deviants. Most of these unfortunates are
mentally deficient and/or severly physically screwed up, so they are
often wards of the state.

Going from memory, but I believe that it is in the description of the Az
sector in Denver.

Chavez:"I want to see his eyes when it happens."
Clark:"So use a good scope on the rifle."

No, only 150,000. The "Other" percentage is 1%, so it could be anywhere
between 0.5% and 1.499999...%, any of which rounds to 1.

Shadowrun's procedure for determining the population is probably similar to
the US Census Bureau. They guestimate what part of the population in each
city is which race...including other. They don't know the exact number so
they figure out how many people there are of a particular race that has SINs,
and then compare that number to the total population that has SINs, and
determine the percentage of the total SINed population that are that race.
Then they put a fudge factor into their calculations to determine how many
are SINless, and figure out a percentage of people without SINs of a
particular race.
