I was told that someone official in FASA said that Obsidimen and T'skrang,
from Earthdawn, were definately never going to be in Shadowrun.

Is this true, and if so, who said so?

It's true.

Mike Mulvihill, the current DLoH.

I do believe FASA reps have stated this on multiple occasions; I don't
know for sure, but I seem to remember something like this popping up at an
SR seminar at GenCon last year, and Mike Mulvihill saying no, they
wouldn't be in SR.

I don't remember if it was on the list, but back when Mike Mulvihill
talked to the little people, he told me himself he wasn't going to bring
them into the SR universe. Of course, to that I replied, "Well, YOU
might not..."
You can justify this by saying the magic level in the 6th world isn't
high enough yet. Or you could simply toss those out the windows and
throw 'em in. I'd make the T'skrang really hard to find- maybe hiding
the Amazon jungle somewhere living off the River.
Obsidiman I'd make really rare, and avoiding society (but not
technologically un-friendly). Maybe kinda like a James Bond villian. :)

I personally take offense at your description of Mike talking to the little
people. I talk with him on a regular basis (either through IM or by calling
him up), and he is very amicable and has an enthusiasm for the game which I
hope does not fade or burn-out for a very long time. So before you go and
start slamming the DLoH, I suggest -YOU- try and talk with him for once.
