I'm pretty sure (unless there's been something on the news that I've
missed) that that's the Queen's English unless you're wearing a white
rhinestone studded suit and adding "uh huh huh" at the end of every other
sentence.

Well, that was supposed to be sarcasm, guess it didn't translate very well.
I was educated in London... from 7 years old to graduation of secondary
school. Since the founders of the United States were rebelling against a
King, not a Queen, and that the linguistic branch evolved from that point,
then, technically, Americans speak a variation of the Kings English, not the
Queens. Maybe that's why the Brits have a tendency to make everything sound
cute.
