No, I'm not saying I have one.

I was under the impression that it existed, because I'd seen a
listing in Musiclog, which is a massive trade publication index for
music stores. Musiclog is supposed to list every album ever produced
by any major (and several minor) recording labels. The Highlander
Soundtrack was listed in that reference as being out of production.

I just did some research this morning, and as it turns out, there
never was a Highlander Soundtrack. There was a listing for it in the
credits of the Highlander trailer, though, which might be how a
listing for it ended up in Musiclog.

:Not the Queen album A KIND OF MAGIC, but the HIGHLANDER soundtrack

That one I do have. Gave up on trying to find the official soundtrack
(lucky I did too, since apparently it doesn't exist, despite being
listed in the index that I had checked).

Actually, you're right, it doesn't exist after all. Sorry to get your
hopes up.

BTW: If you've been looking for it since '84, I'm quite impressed,
since Highlander was from '86. :)

There was a cassette version of the soundtrack released around the time
of the movie (a friend has it), but not a CD (at least made around 86).

The disk does exist, but it is oddly labeled. It is put out as "A kind of
Magic" by Queen, and is
nowhere identified as the Highlander soundtrack, but that is what it is. Date of
copyright is 1986 %
1991.

It's why I went searching for it lo these many years ago. Teasing, lying
bastards....

'Tis okay, it's happened before. A lot. I've gotten leads on so many rare
CDs that have dried up or turned out to be red herrings, I've gotten kind of
used to it.

So I mis-remembered the dates...after all these years, things start to blur
together....

Well...no.

First, a HIGHLANDER soundtrack wouldn't feature "One Vision," which didn't
appear in the film (it was used in IRON EAGLE, and was written after the
Live-Aid concert as a tribute to Bob Geldof).

Second, a soundtrack for HIGHLANDER would have featured Queen's version of
"New York, New York" and probably "Hammer to Fall" (the song the
Marine
survivalist is listening to when he spots Kurgan battling Kastagir in the
alley), which was originally featured on Queen's THE WORKS album.

Third, a HIGHLANDER soundtrack would feature the versions of the songs that
appeared in the movie.

Fourth, A KIND OF MAGIC mentions that "Some songs on this album appear in
different form in the film HIGHLANDER."

Thanks for playing, though. <g>

Really? My interest is sparked now, especially after going over a
couple of Highlander FAQs and Queen FAQs that both said that a
soundtrack was never made.

I'm going to repeat the request that Patrick Goodman <remo@***.net>
made earlier, that you *PRIVATELY* email us with any identifying
particulars like studio label, catalog number, copyright info, list
of songs, and so on.

Eh? They changed the title about half a dozen times, but HIGHLANDER III:
THE FINAL DIMENSION did happen. I didn't like it, but it happened. So,
unfortunately, did HIGHLANDER II.

That's something I've never been able to figure. They make a movie
based around the tagline/premise "There can be only One!" and then
they go and make two sequels to it.

They also have a couple of TV series, IIRC.

On a related note, I hear that Final Fantasy 8 is coming out
in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to more pretty FMVs.

There were two other highlanders? My mind was incapable of acknowledging those
movies fully..kinda like the Crow 2.

Some other good music for shadowrunning:

The Matrix Soundtrack
Anything by Oribital
I've used chemical brothers for some stuff as well. Also some Delerium tracks
as well.
