Ummm... Yes it might of been a brilliant episodes. Some of us may not even
known that B5 was going to be blown up. (Where not all in the US or UK you
know) Next time please include spoiler space(I know it doesn't seem
necessary) but some of us aren't up with you.

It's late and I should stop my irritable rambling...

I agree with "junior" here Spike, you got lucky in seeing that episode, but
the rest of the world didn't. Add to that the fact that *YOU* are one of the
biggest bitching individuals when it comes to Spoilers from time to time, I
was amazed you posted in that manner.

Oh well, I'll live...even if I have NOT seen that episode.

C'mon, like you didn't see it coming? :) After all, the destruction
of the station was prophesied by that one Centauri woman way back in
what, season 1? You know, the same Centauri who predicted that both
Londo and Vir would be Emperors? The destruction of the station is a
non-spoiler IMHO. Now if he'd mentioned that one of the characters had
turned in to a randy little bed-jockey, that would have been a
spoiler.

My guess would be SOTA. The technology used to create B5 was probably
surpassed to the point that it was economically prohibitive to dismantle it
(it would cost more to take it apart then what you would game from it).
For this same reason decommisioned navel vessles are often sunk instead of
dismantled. Ditto for disposal of old tanks and such. Also, the structure
probably had all sorts of stress fractures which would require that it be
melted down and reforged, which would significantly add to the cost.

Also, when you take something apart you're paying for it twice. The price
to build it, and the price to take it apart and break it down. In private
industry and on a small scale you see this being done. But for something
as large as B5 that's owned by a beaurocracy...

Not to mention that JMS has said from day 1 that Babalyon 5 is blown up
in the final episode, he just never mentioned the manner in which it
happened. I believe that it was Lady Ladira, some relative of Lord Kiro's
who forsaw the end of B5 (in the season 2 episode with the Eye where
Morden first appears) Lady Morella was the seeress who prophesied that
both Lando and Vir would be emperor.

Would that be after he blew up the Death Star? ;)

Yes. We knew it was going to be destroyed.
We didn't know HOW though. Such an ignominious end for such a great
historical monument, don't you think?

I think we'd better be as vague as possible. Some people on the list
(Gurth?) might not have seen it yet....

As I said, the prophecy only said it would be destroyed. everyone assumed it
would be.... well...

Gurth... Don't read this....

Everyone assumed it would be a violent, worthwhile end, in some war or
other.

Season 4 just started here last Saturday... At least they're still showing
it, that's all that matters to me when it comes to B5 :)

Just started! Damn, I saw "Sleeping..." on the 24th of November (day before

Thanksgiving). I think I would have gone crazy if I had to wait much
longer.
}=^P

On a somewhat non-[OT] posting... I just received the copy of the Denver
box set I ordered from The Dragon's Trove. I can't wait to get off work so
I
can open it up and take a look. :-)

David

Only four and a half more hours! <groan>
