It may not be the standard to you, but it is for pretty much everyone
else since before the Web. It's quite organic, you answer after someone,
not before.

But yes, the endless September has turned into something quite ugly,
especially with emails.

Use any decent email program. For example, try Thunderbird. It's free,
it's open source, it's multi platform.

Jeremie:

Not to continue this off topic, but I just want to point out
something. LIke in everything of a dispute, there are two sides/views.
There are a lot of people that want to get to the replied message
right away, and I am assuming that Jon or Jaime is the this kind of
person. There are people that want it in chronological order like
yourself that like the messages after the previous.

My suggestion, is ignore the difference, unless someone has the entire
previously message and not the part they are responding to before any
of his messages. This is especially tiring for those of us that like
to get the reply and see their own long message. Or we all can make a
standard to be included in this list's faq and policies to make
replies like they are in the previous shadowrun books like Jeremie has
said, but to keep only the relevant part of the message responding to.
Jeremie has done that part well, thanks.

That's called irony, that is.

That is why one usually trims the quoted material in his followup message.
