A St. Petersburg crime lord was gunned down by a mystery assassin
who shot him twice with a silenced pistol as he lay wounded in a
hospital bed.
The 24-year old mafia boss was recovering at the city's Military
medical Academy after being injured in a bloody 'razborka'--a shoot-out
between two rival gangs, when the gunman burst in.

Last Tuesday's shooting was the latest in a series of bloody
gangland executions which have rocked St. Petersburg's underworld.
Last November two notorious St. Petersburg mafia bosses, both 32,
were shot dead at point blank range after a gunman traced them to a
plush Budapest apartment.
