Of course he could have.. but the machine still came with W95 installed.
And generally.. unless you're a bit of a wizard, installing your own OS
isn't a piece of cake..

To swing this slightly back on topic..
Has anybody tried to work out a system for incompatible OS penalties in
decking?

Aren't those called Ultraviolet systems? :)

Well, lemme see. What can I spin off my cuff.

Take the year that your deck's OS was made. Take the year of the opposing
system's OS. Divide by 2. That is your modifier to all rolls and inititives
while decking that system.

This penalty may be reduced by a Translate program. Each success reduces the
modifier by one.

Hmm.. I should get out VR2.. but it's late, and I don't wanna. :) Good luck.

I'd say its covered by either the UV system, or by the SOTA rules.
Besides think about the backward's compatibility built into
things today. Win 95 still has 3.11 code as a base for parts of it?!
