/ That is, as far as I know, because the SR3 playtesters spent huge amounts

It was actually fairly productive, however I think it overwhelmed Mike ;)

Almost 500 posts in about 2 and half months. Not what I would call
heavy but then I'm a net junkie.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal names
more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves, they
answered to another name, because if another discovered their real name,
it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.

I agree. I think there should have been a playtest list, but Mike should
just have bowed out of it. There was plenty of productive discussion on it,
and I think it was beneficial. If we could have discussed things on the
list, then sent our final playtest stuff to Mike (Which I did, btw), I
think that our overall comments would have been more useful. <shrug>

Maybe there was a reason I wasn't asked to playtest MitS ;-)

My understanding of the situation with the mailing list is something different
... the playtesting went beyond what was just stated in the book to begin with
and had people arguing about how something should be improved instead of
pointing out the possibilities and the goofs ... which is what -I- consider
playtesting to be.
