I was born decimal, 21st century digital boy. Come over, you know you want
to. We have more fun, come on. I bet I can run a kilometer faster than you
can run a mile. For that matter, I can run around in 25 degree heat all day
with no shirt on.
Now all I need to do is fix the clocks so they're _METRIC_ too.

Sorry, there's a cyclone off the coast and its sending my brain funny.

According to Wolfstar, at 3:24 on 25 Feb 00, the word on the street was...

That's because you English-speakers seem to feel the need to do everything
differently than the normal part of the world... :)

In all of Europe, except those bits that speak English, a comma is used to
indicate the start of the decimals, and a point (or whatever it's called
in this case) for the thousands, millions, and so on. So what you, being
an American with all that English influence behind you, write as 1,234.567
is written as 1.234,567 in Europe (excluding the UK and Ireland).

I don't get it.
The '.' is CALLED the decimal point. I think it's the europeans who've got
it wrong...

Me too. I blame the French. But then, I blame the French for everything that's
wrong with Europe. (I blame the French for a lot of stuff :^P).

Not really, in Latin America we use the comma to indicate the start of the
decimmals too, and also the point for hundreds and thousands, maybe you
should do that too, and start using the metric system while you're at it,
the rest of the world has a hard time allready trying to figure out how many

Despite your smiley, I feel the need to remark that the "," is called the
decimal comma here :)

1 and a bit. I refuse to follow the "party line". I'll never convert to
decimal, no matter how much our government wants us all to.

And I can sit quite comfortably in 75 degree conditions in just a tee-shirt,
while you'd need flame retardent underwear...

Yuck!

I was beginning to wonder...

So you're still paying with shillings and all that?

There are exceptions to every rule. Our currency decimalised when I was 5,
so I've never used pre-decimalised currency. But as for imperial
measurements, my bike does 50 rods you the hogshead, and that's how I likes
it (to misquote Abe Simpson).

Erm... I was always taught to use the decimal COMMA, and a space for
thousands, millions, etc.

example time: Priotity A for Resources gives you: 1 000 000.00 nuyen

Just thought I'd add to the confusion...
