I'm a SuSE man myself...
VERY easy to install and configure.

YaST does most of the work for me. (Yet another Setup Tool)

You really have to learn C....
The ultimate in portable languages.
(Just use the GCC compiler that comes with Linux, and not some bastardised
version by M$)

Yeah! Unfortunately, my (Linux) hard drive hosed Monday, so I'm stuck
in that other OS...

Or, better yet, use EGCS instead of GCC, since EGCS actually makes an
attempt at optimising:)

Well.... Yeeessss....
But one hell of a lot of programs out there are still written with GCC in
mind.

I think the aim is for egcs to replace gcc as the new gcc soonosh anyway.
