Are you a woman? Only a woman could say that :).
*ducks*
I would not get too bothered if I were you. Your
replies tend to be rather all-encompassing in a manner
that suggests you are on amphetamines (i.e.: could go
on for another few thousand lines on the subject ;).
Some people might react to this in a funny way if they
think they can troll you into an angry reply, as
you'll probably keep being annoyed if they keep
prodding you.
The reason I found your above statement amusing is
that believability and consistency are imho only an
option. They tend to be necessary to maintain a
suspension of disbelief in the gaming process,
especially since Shadowrun is often supposed to be 'a
bit like today, but with cool tech&magic'. This
suspension of disbelief is necessary for people to
allow themselves to safely immerse their imagination
within the game world a bit more and to lend a level
of reality to the GM's fantastic constructs. Failing
that, people might fall back onto the actual game
system (i.e.: their character stats) in order to have
something tangible to qualify the actions open to them
in a more intellectualised version of the game world.
I know I end up staring at my character sheet in a
boring game (especially one where people don't work
together well) and wondering about the useful stuff I
could be fairly certain of pulling off just to get the
plot/action moving along. Speaking yet more
personally, the amount of attention I pay to the
consistency and believability of the GM's delivery
depends on a lot of factors, but I guess that if the
GM seems to have a decent idea of what he/she is doing
and how to make me have a good time (aka fun), then
that's all I tend to care about.
In any case, I guess I have no real point to make
here, I just hope you won't feel as offended next time
somebody utters what seems like deliberate critique.
Cheers,
Jan Jaap
