Police here (the Netherlands) have MP-5s but aren't allowed to use them on
anything but single shot mode, even though the fire selector allows
full-auto... That doesn't apply to Marine Corps Special Assistance
(=counter-terrorism) units, though.

Not widely known, but (unfortunately) true... In most larger cities
German police is equiped with H&K's MP5 (one SMG per car), and in
cities with high crime rates (Hannover, probably Frankfurt) even foot
patrols are issued SMGs by now. Regular policemen sometimes even
receive full-auto training, although I do not know when police is
allowed to use the weapons on full-auto.
