The story I was given was that the drive by wire equipped BMW's actually
have a sensor....and when you're talking about driving 120 miles round trip
every day for work, even $0.20/gallon (or more) adds up quite fast...last
time I filled my maxima (which I fill with premium due to the better economy
it gets on it) it cost me about $47.00 for 16 gallons of gas....and when
you're in rural texas and premium is 90 octane....that's painful...

Well, if the premium gas is giving you enough additional efficiency to
make up for the $0.20, it shouldn't matter which one you use then?
The middle octane gas was high enough octane to match what the manual
on my maxima wanted though.

I'm stuck in California so it's tough to get a diesel car, and there's
only one biodiesel station within 50 miles anyway, or I'd consider
that option a bit more. Dunno if it's easier to find a biodiesel pump
out where you are.

And yeah, that's what I meant about the $0.20 mattering less these days.
