I'm a she, actually. And I had NO clue what it was saying. not every
windows program restarts your computer. Most will say "Would you like
to restart your computer now?" AFTER it's installed the software. This
thing hadn't done any of that. Before it has installed anything, it
just popped up a window in German; I pressed the button, and it
restarted my computer. Unless you manually shut down your computer, no
dialog boxes pop up to say "Are you sure? You have unsanved info..."
So no, it's not a given. I've never seen another program do this.

According to Drea O'Dare, at 9:27 on 26 Sep 98, the word on the street was...

I'll grant you that the German for this wouldn't look much like the
English words.

That _is_ weird.

Is it the way I read this, or did you accidentally say the reverse of what
you intended to say?

Here's what happens when you shut down your computer while working on
things with Windows 95. It says "Shut down the computer?" And you
click yes or no. You click yes, and the shuts down the computer. No
bothering with saving information or anything. When another application
shuts down your computer, the same thing happens - a dialog box opens
and says "Do you want to restart your computer now?" and if you click
yes, then it shuts down your computer, paying, once again, no heed to
any other applications that you have open. But anyway, this is an OT
thread, and it's gone on a bit too long.

What I think she meant by "manually shutting down" is actually closing all the
programs yourself instead of using the Windows shutdown feature. With
Shutdown, no warning, but with manually closing every program, you get
whatever warning.
