Hey, ever seen Minstry live? Al might be a half-dead junkie, but you need
talent to play those guitars (and I sure as hell know that the g/f of the
guitar-man is a happy girl....heh.)

(Just yersterday I was told that during the last Ministry show I saw (a few
month ago) Al wasn't that fucked up because he was so high, but
because the organizers refused to get him H. <g>)

Well, yeah. You need skill at an instrument, but any craftsman of that tool
has that. What Ministry is lacking is art, the grace and wit of melody that
separates Hootie and the Blowfish from Aphex Twin.

Then again, no one [not even me] listens to Ministry for the artistic value.

Yes, I've seen Ministry live. Back during the Mind is a Terrible Thing to
Taste days, and again, recently, after Dark Side of the Spoon. He was better
then. I think he needs to do a lot more smack. It seems to make him a better
musician. Now that's sad.

Well, I can't remember which song it was, but I've seen some *fast*
guitar playing (btw, remember the stunt "Mr. Big" did with the drill? ;), but
that was impressive.

Hey, for OnTness: How about a piece of cyber to make your right hand
so incredibly fast (maybe a tweaked cyberarm gyro)....

Melody....you do know that industrial (metal) does not really appreciate
that.

He was impressive when on withdrawl. ;)

Yeah...man, those were the days. God, I feel old now. Thanks a lot. :)

Industrial Metal, no. Industrial, sometimes. "In order to build you have to
destroy" might have been a catchphrase for Einsturzende Neubauten, but even
they sometimes worked with incredible melodies. [Salamandrina, Ubique Media
Daemon, and Halber Mensch, for three. Just don't remember I said that when
you're listening to 2x4. You'll laugh at me.]

Of course he was; playing as fast as he could so he could shoot up. :)

I'm sorry, but which were you claiming actually had wit or talent?

I do. Never heard of "art brut"?

Heh, I was getting thrown out of Ministry shows before that. The "Land of
Rape and Honey" show I saw was... an expereince. Ministry was one of the
first bands I ever heard that really exploited the full potential of
digital sound processing (very noticable live, at least at the show I saw),
and I found that album to be pretty damn tasty. The "Isle of Man" track
still blows me away, as well.
I agree, though- I stopped buying albums (and going to thier shows) after
MIATT came out, cause the recent stuff seems pretty lame. I don't think
its the smack, I think its a overblown effort to avoid all connection to
his (really really old) "new wave" sound...
You know, to me, every day is STILL halloween....

You know, we may be the only people here who actually OWN that album...

Thank you for making me feel old again. :)
