The rules don't really mention how magical healing affects the Overflow
damage on a character. Here are possibilities I've found. Please post
anything I might have missed.

1) Magical Healing (Heal/Treat) take off points of Overflow the same as boxes
of Physical.
2) It takes off boxes just from the Physical track and immediately eliminates
all Overflow.
3) Heal/Treat can't work on a player with Overflow. That's what Stabilize is
for.

Thanks in advance for everyone's thoughts on this.

I would go for rule number 1. It seems to me the most logical of the three.
Rule number 2 is a bit too much of an advantage, and rule 3 the exact
opposite, forming a big disadvantage although well thought of.

I use this rule. Drain is likewise based on the number of boxes of damage
the target of the Heal spell has taken, staged according to my overflow
damage house rules -- so casting a healing spell on someone with 13 boxes
of damage will cause (Deadly+Moderate) drain.

Theres nothing in the description that contradicts this, and its what we
have always used. The drain would be base D, of course...

:2) It takes off boxes just from the Physical track and immediately
eliminates
:all Overflow.

There is nothing in the description to indicate that this would happen.
In fact, the spell specifically removes as many boxes as successes (limited
by force, given time, blah blah blah), so I don't see why it should do any
more.

:3) Heal/Treat can't work on a player with Overflow. That's what Stabilize

Using Heal does not automaitically stabalize a character. The spell
would only reduce thier current damage level, and if that was still above
deadly, they would still be taking damage and be on a short road to a deep
hole. Therefore, you would normally want to first use stabalize first, or
otherwise ensure the person was not about to die despite use of the Heal
spell.
Its a bitch that stabalize has a force limit- I've seen characters go 5
boxes over and live. Biotech is an excellent skill to have, in those cases.

this one I use for years, add two to the spell target number if a target has
overlow.
works good for me.
