I can't seem to find anywhere that gives maximum ranges for paranormal
critter abilities.

For example, how far away from a barghest does one have to be to avoid the
effects of it's howl? Out of earshot? That makes them pretty impractical as
guard dogs, since everyone in a mile radius will have the odd case of wet
boots (including their keepers).

I Can't tell you much about ranges but...when we ran up against some o
these buggers one time a good set of industrial quality hearing
protectors saved us from that bootie problem. we were worried about using
our comm gear for a while but when we realized the magical effect
wouldn't be carried over the airwaves it was no sweat
