Agreed, but single target spells like fire bolt could, if allowed, be
parried. This is not to say that it would be easy, just possible.
Actually, to tie this into another thread, a magic parry ability would
make a good initiate power for physads. I would give a physad 1 die per
level to attempt to parry a damaging manipulation spell targeted at him,
in addition to any magic pool dice the physad might have (power foci,
sorcery skill), and the ability would work in a fashion similar to
reflective shielding, except that the spell could not be parried back at
anyone. Of course, this would not work on area effect spells.
