pluses to illusion and manipulation.

Hmmm...let me get back to you on that one. <puts on his Son of
Ether Electro Ecto Brainwave Stimulator and Scalp Massager, which
coincidentally looks like an aluminum strainer basket, a pair of
nine-volt batteries on the side, and spiral copper tubing, all held
together by duct tape! Raises fist in air, and yells, 'Science!'.>

Sorry, listening to too much Thomas Dolby.

Erm.. Duckbilled Platapus (also pluses to detection, but a big minus
to combat), Hyena?, Jaguar of South America (definitely illusion, but
I'm not sure about manipulation), Spider... that's about all I can
think of at the moment.

Sounds like raccoon to me, but I don't have my books at work.

Platypi (plural of Platypus) are not the sort of animal I would give a
bonus for manipulation spells (and since I'm Australian, I should know!)
Try the Lyre bird, if you want an Australian animal. It has good
camoflage, is a well renowned mimic (especially chainsaws and steam engines),
and nests off the ground. It is secretive and shy, so probably not a good
team player. Personally, I wouldn't give it plusses to manipulation spells,
either, but it is much closer than the Platypus.

I think that you won't find a good animal out there who meet the criteria.
From personal experience, I think that the two attributes are mutually
exclusive. I also think that it was deliberately done to avoid munchkinism.
People should be choosing totems for role-playing, not for the bonuses
they confer.

Neptune
