I was wondering if anyone has ever come up with a good method of decieding how much to pay
characters for a run. I know all about the Karma and all, just curious about the money
side.
Thanx

This I think depends more on your gaming style than does karma awards.
Myself I award what most others would probably think is ludicrous amounts of
cash for runs, and others out there award what I would consider below the
amount needed for a runner to actually stay alive.

Ivy once posted a not too bad suggestion for cash awards, I'll have a go at
recreating the gist of it for you.

Newbe runners/simple jobs (simple bodyguarding, roughing up, low threat
situations) - 3000-7000 depending on threat level.

Low end runners/minor corp jobs (data snatches on not so important corps,
bodyguarding of someone more important, attacks on better defended
opposition, middle threat operations) - 7000-25000, again varying on the
threat level.

Average runners/mid-range corp jobs (runs against subsidiaries of the big 8,
attacks on enemies requiring careful planning and operation, runs involving
anyone relatively well known in their field - eg trid stars, successful
scientists -, runs on well trained and equipped opponents) - 25000-60000,
once again it will vary with threat.

High end runners/big 8 runs (basically anything invloving one or more of the
big 8 corps, whether for or against, involvement with very well known
people, runs requiring special skills or low publicity, high threat
operations) - 60000-100000+

Legend status runners/urban legend making runs (anything deeply effecting a
major megacorp, a very public personality, an unique threat to a population,
a massive manouver with large scale repercussions) - 100000-1000000+

As an average I would recommend about 35000 or so for a run (mine tend
towards the 50000, but as I said, I run a high neyen campaign). If you are
running an Ivy style game, then the last two catagories will be for you.
