Someone mentioned a PBEM a few weeks ago and I requested more information, I
was interested in playing, but the person I replied to didn't send me anything.
Is this game (or any other) still up? I've got a combat mage I'd like to
play...

not long ago someone solicited for characters in a PBeM game. i sent a message
of affirmation to him, then sent him a character. i haven't heard since. is
this just me? did i get lost in the paperwork? anyone else interested in
taking a wayward mage in a PBeM game?

Same thing happened to me. The gm and I were mailing back and forth one night,
he sounded really excited to get my character, I typed in and sent the
character the next day, and I haven't heard a damn thing since. Last week I
sent a message to him saying "hey, what's up?" and I haven't yet received a
response to that, either. The gm goes by the name "Darknight." Are we talking
about the same person? Did he post a pbem notice just to get characters and
save himself some work, or what? I'm beginning to wonder...

I am looking for 3 beginning level characters. The current team is mostly musc
le so a mage or shaman, or decker, or rigger would work well. PLease send char
acters with all stuff, including a background to ip85409@********. The backgro
und is required too.

Okay folks, I'm going to startup a PBEM sense there's been so
much interest show so far. I'm going to take 4-6 runners ..
better character background gives you a better shot at being
one of the players. If you are interested, send me a message,
and I'll get back to you.

I'll probably look to start in a week or so..

Look up in the header, see where it says "From:" or "Sender:" that's
it.

Not everybody's mailer can display all headers, so some people will only
see From: SHADOWRN@********.ITRIBE.NET, and no Sender:...

Mine's like that... normally...(elm)

okay, ill be gming a sr3 (mainly) pbem game very soon (like, a few
days)...

i might have room for possibly up to 3 characters/players...

it will start out slow and easy, since ive never gmed a pbem game
before, and will have to get used to it (speed requirements, and other
things)...

i will be doing a couple of modules at first, to get used to play (been
a while since ive played myself, and im kind of rusty), and possibly
bring all the characters together, or whatever...then i will have real
adventures going...

if anybody is interested, let me know....ive got one character that im
running right now, (although if we get the people, i wont play him), and
the only other guy playing right now is working on 1, possibly 2
characters (we werent planning on anybody else playing at all, at first,
<not that we dont want anybody, it just never crossed our mind>, but a
couple people mentioning it on here kind of interested me)

anyway, let me know

I want to set up a pbem game for SR, but I'm fragged if I can find
anything that I can read as guidlines to moderate the game, or even set
it up for that matter.

Anybody know anything I don't? (Quite a lot, I suspect...)

Try TCR games.
www.tcrgames.cnchost.com

They have a dozen or so active PBeM games you could read the
backposts of, and maybe get an idea of how to moderate it.
There are also other sites with PBeMs on them, but I don't know of
any others off the top of my head.

Ya might also go take a look at the Runs going on in the Deep Resonance
(shadowrun.html.com) Forums (Runs and Run Ideas). ShadowGothic just
started, Runner's Twist has been going for what seems like forever, and
Panic and Riots is the one I moderate. I kinda just jumped in and
played sink or swim. I'm fairly liberal about letting the players
determine the storyline, and have only ever rolled dice once, but with
three different games there, you can kind of get a feel for the
different ways it can be done.

Ok, I've made a big mistake, and I admit it.

I sat down and started flipping through Shadowrun books today. This is
generally a big mistake, since it will mean I want to play Shadowrun, but
wind up frustrated because there is no one around to play with (and no time
on the weekends to actually play). Thus, I think a PBEM would be great.

Thus, if anyone is running a POEM that has a slot open, or is thinking of
starting one, e-mail me and let me know. I have a few sample characters on
my web page, so you can see who I've come up with in the past, but I'll
likely make a new character for a new game.

Please. I'm going mad, here.

In fact, if our group can't meet in the big blue room for the week or
biweekly game, we usually play by Netmeeting. With a bit of work it
actually works quite nicely, especially since everyone's local and has
webcams on broadband access.

One caveat, if you're running a Linux firewall as a NAT/masquerade box you
will need a module to do S/DNAT for the H.323 protocol, and nobody has
ported the module to the 2.4 kernel yet. :\ I will likely do it myself in
the next few days if nobody else is doing it, because I'm tired of having
to boot the machine on the old kernel to play SR :(
