Hey just wondering if anyone has used pets in their campaigns for PCs. I
have a few times and it's a barrel of laughs. Also on a side note, does
anyone have a set of prices and or skills concerning handling?

Lates,

I've been working on this seeing how I have a native american with a wolf
entering the campaign very soon. I modified the ranger training rules
from AD&D to better suit shadowrun. It doesn't have many prices yet,
but it does have a detailed description of the skills neccisary for
training and handling of animals. It's on my page:

Check out the rules section for more information.

Okay, I have to admit I did not do it, but Keith and a friend (Perry) made a
small Body 1 drone that we called a Sneaky Pete, after our cat/kitten Peter.

And as for the handling them, there is a skill called Animal Handling
(Falconry for example is a concentration of the skill, as an example), and as
for the cost of their lifestyle, I always considered an animal as having a
lifestyle cost equal to the Body attribute x 25 nuyen per month (though this
is for a low lifestye), increasing the multiplier x 10 gives Medium Lifestyle,
and by 100 gives a luxury lifestlye for your pet.

A cat shaman had a "pet" Talis Cat named Felix. It was bought as a
buddy during CharGen and increased his lifestyle costs. Felix used no
threat rating nor earned good karma but was allowed to use the Shaman's
karma pool. He was more or less an NPC under player control, meaning I
could override the player control if I saw fit. This worked out well in
the game and the player never tried to abuse him in any way.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal names
more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves, they
answered to another name, because if another discovered their real name,
it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.

Once upon a time, my GM "allowed" a PC who was a Dog Shaman, to "bond"
with
a litter on Barghests.

Admittedly, they were wild, and we'd just splattered mommy. But it was fun,
until the started growing up, and learning to howl, chew furniture and
cars, etc.................

Here in the home game things are kind of interesting ...

Keith with Binder has a full-grown Barghest for a pet, and it is also a
physical adept to boot ...

As for an npc, there is a snake shaman in Washington, DC, which has a pet
Mimic snake called Buffy, a 14 foot long snake ...

There were several ocassions when chance meetings happened ...

Meeting #1 ... Kray and Buffy while being walked (Buffy was in a baby
carriage), they got into a howling match which eventually progressed into the
Paralyzing Howl ...

Meeting #2 ... Buffy was loose in the apartment complex, Binder only knew
about because the entire place was nervous as frag ...

And all of the other things which have happened since are as fun and get even
better as time goes ...

A barghest that's also a phsical adept. Interesting. But No.
(At least not in my world. Although it would make for an interesting
one-shot, mutated by toxics or somesuch to explain the powers.)

And of course what Mike has failed to insert is that he has remained an
untrained one, with only the designation in order to augment his inherent
paranormal abilities as well as "develop" variations on new ones. Such as
turn the Paralyzing Howl into "Sonic Generation", which can stun opponents.
That sort of thing. Nothing like the name would otherwise indicate.

No masking, no killing hands, and he's got a collar with increased reflexes,
not a developed skill.

Basically it was just a way to measure the development of the NPC.

PS Thanks Mike for once again not giving every detail that exists
