bring up the old Wires-vs-IncRefs and Sammie-vs-PhysAd thread again, but
really, the costs to bring up PhyAd reflexes suck. My group and I have
worked on this problem off and on for the past year or so. Along with
some info on Reflex Boosting I got off of the list (thanx whoever), this
is what I came up with.
---
OK. First off, I made the costs for basic reflex enhancement
cheaper. +1d6 = 1 MR, +2d6 = 3 MR, +3d6 = 5 MR. How's that? I then took
the rules presented for reflex boost and changed them slightly so they
made more sense. OK, here goes:
Reflex Boost. Cost : variable
To use reflex boost, make a test of MR of the PhsAd against a TN
of the PhyAds reaction. If any successes are made, the phyad gets the
amount of boost purchased for a number of combat turns equal to
successes. At the end of the boost, make a drain resistance test, of
Willpower again a TN of ((Reaction/2) + (1/lvl of boost)), the drain
LEVEL is equal to the TOTAL dice in initiative. Total initiative:
+1d6 =(L), +2d6 =(M), +3d6 =(S).
For example, a physad with reaction 4 and reflex boost +2d6 would
do this: Roll MR vs TN-4. Drain is 4M (4/2 + 2), (M 2d6 total init).
(Combining Inc Refs and Ref Boost here-)
Example, a physad with reaction 6 and IncRefs +1d6, and Reflex
boost (total) +3d6 would do this. Roll MR vs TN-6. Drain is 5S (6/2 +
2), (S 3d6 total init)
Cost of reflex boost:
One half the cost of buying the equivalent Increased Reflexes. If a
PhysAd decides to buy both IncRefs AND RefBoost, pay
the normal amount of MR for the IncRefs, THEN pay half the difference
between the cost of the IncRefs and the level of Boost desired.
Example: 2d6 of Ref Boost costs 1.5 MR (3/2)
Example: 1d6 of IncRefs and 3d6 of RefBoost (3d6 total), costs 3
MR (1 + (5-1)/2)= 3.

Well folks, that's the show. Questions? Comments? Something I didn't
make clear?
