Remember, that as a mage advances in initiate, they gain 'shielding' dice
equal to their grade. This is in addition to their magic pool. But these
shielding dice can ONLY be used to shield. Ie a Mage initiate (lv 3) 8MP, can
use up to 11 shielding dice, and has 3 always shielding.
So it doesn't require a magic pool to shield, it just gives you more dice
that you can throw in.
