What about this.
PA - Physical Adept
Sorry to take the masculine here. It was just easier. I, in no way,
proclaim that PAs must be male.
PAs without Astral Perception have no clue to how astral space works.
AND how spells can be resisted. With Astral Perception, the PA can
channel energy away from himself like a Mage does when he Shields
and/or provides spell defense.
In other words, if a PA has the Astral Perception ability AND some
sorcery skill, he can provide spell defense for himself ONLY. He can
protect himself. He lacks the ability to control the astral energies
to protect others. If the same PA initiates, he can _shield_ himself.
This makes the Astral Perception ability a little more attractive to
PAs. And provides a little edge that PAs should have.
Maybe to provide spell defense a PA must be using Astral Perception.
But I think this is an unnecessary requirement. The key idea is the
knowledge and the innate ability to perform the act much like how a
mage/shaman does it.
What about it. Happy median?
