Hi, I'm new to the list, and I've got a lot of questions, so I just figured
I'd start with the first one.

As I understand it, Physical Adept (henceforth PA) get as many powers as
their magic rateing, i.e. the one under attributes. The only way they can
get more powers is by becoming an iniate, as detailed in the grimoire, and
raising their magic rating, the one that is an attribute. (I know you
don't/can't raise the magic attribute with karma) Did they(FASA) not intend
PA's to ever raise their attributes? i.e. Their magic powers. Is that the
only way PA's can acquire more powers?

Okay, just one clarification: PA's don't get as many powers as their
magic rating - they get as many powers they can AFFORD with their magic
rating...some powers cost more or less than one point of magic to "buy".

Now that that's settled, let me answer your questions for you.
Basically, Initiation is the only way to raise your Magic Attribute.
All Mages can do this with enough Karma and the proper resources. PA's
just use their additional Magic Rating points differently from the other
Mages. They "spend" their Magic Rating for more powers. Thus,
Initiation is the only way PA's can obtain more powers than they start
the game with.

Well,PA only can "buy"new powers if they raise his/her magic rating with
initiation...but to raise in initiation they need Karma.
When i played a PA usually spend 1/2 or 3/4 of the karma reward raising
skills,atrib. etc.The remaining for a future initiation.Be patient!

Anyway to awnser your question: the only to get more PA powers is to
initate that's it pure and simple.

Hello all, and thanks for the response. I appreaceate the help. It just
didn't make any sense to me, I mean, from the original book, it appeared
that they were never expected to advance. Which isn't really a problem, but
a lot of players (inc. mine) want the 'cool' parts to advance as well as
their skills.
And _no_, czar, I'm not a law student, I'm an english major here at
Hendrix in Arkansas. I've got a group, and we're just starting our first SR
campaign. I'm basing it in cleveland, so I'll put that stuff up on my web
page, so anyone who wants to play in cleveland, I'll have that up in a
month or so. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions, so I'll keep mailing in
trust me. I have the list on digest, b/c I'm taking finals, and trying to
keep up, you'll be hearing from me again... ;-> (evil grin)

You're 100% right about physads the way get more powers: they spend Karma
to initiate, as per the Grimoire, and can then select additional powers.
Keep in mind that they don't have to do this right away. For example,
astral perception costs 2 points, so a physad could initiate twice to get
2 extra magic points, and only then choose to "fill" those points with
astral perception.

What do you mean by this question? Physads can increase the Body,
Quickness, Strength, Charisma, Intelligence, and Willpower in the exact
same way everybody else can: spend Karma equal to the current level + 1
to increase the attribute rating by one point.

The only way that a PA can get more powers is by raising his/her Magic
rating, which in turn can only be raised via initiation.

In short, Yes. PA's get more powers or increase their existing ones
by using Initiation. If they want to raise their mental or physical
attributes they use karma like everyone else.
