I think we might have been over this before but I can not remember how the
discussion went. So I am bring it up again.

The Centering power that can be purchased by PhysAds for 2 magic points
allows Centering for abilities like Electronics, Computer, Vehicle Driving,
etc. I do not have my Grimoire on me right now but I seem to remember that
it contradicts itself by saying no Physical Skill can be purchased and then
list Unarmed & Armed Combat skills as skills this can be bought for.

The things I am wondering is what has been done about the contradiction and
does this mean that a PhysAd with this Centering ability can be a better
Rigger or Decker then either of those archetypes?

So opinions?

You've got it turned upside-down. Without the Enhanced Centering power, a
physad may center against penalties for any Physical skill.
If a physad buys Enhanced Centering, he must state to which skill category
it will apply -- Build/Repair, Combat, Languages, and so on. He can then
use Centering for penalties against skills in the bought category as well.

SR divides skills into certain categories:

Active
Build and Repair
Knowledge
Language
Special

The Active category is further subdivided:

Combat
Physical
Technical
Magical
Social
Vehicle

So when the rules say that Enhanced Centering may not be chosen for
_Physical_ skills, they mean exactly that. Physical skills are Stealth and
Athletics. Active skills are not the same thing as Physical skills.

In a sense, yes. A Physical Adept could, _in_the_long_run_ be a better
decker or rigger than a regular decker or rigger. But the PA will start off
relatively crappy compared to a straight rigger or decker, due to the
priority that he will be forced to assign to being a PA. Also, in order to
get Enhanced Centering the PA must be an initiate. No small feat. Further,
it costs 2 Magic Points to buy the ability, and when combining this with
heavy duty cyberware that riggers and deckers tend to obtain, requires the
PA to be a level 1 or 2 initiate (usually anyway).
