Subject: Physical Adepts Powers?

Hi,

I am new to the list and I wanted to start with a question about the
powers of physical adepts.
I have D/L the Handybook from Paolos great webpage and now I have
come across a problem.
The "Killing Hands" power uses the unarmed combat skill. Do you get
to pit your impact armor against it or is it assumed that the adept
knows where to strike?
And using the "Ranged Killing Hands" power, do I still use the
unarmed combat skill and pit it against my opponents skill?
And can I use "Power Blow" in conjunction with "Ranged Killing
Hands"?

Thx for your answers,

Rajan

You still use impact armor. Killing Hands is simply the ability to focus
energy (call it "chi" if you prefer) into a particular part of the Adept's
body where the strike will occur, to give it more force and power. The
Adept's Unarmed Combat skill is how well he/she knows where to strike.

My suggestion is to forget all about that "Ranged Killing Hands." That's
the silliest thing in that handbook, on the top of a whole list of silly
things. It makes no sense whatsoever, and is hideously unbalancing.

I made the mistake of giving my PhysAd player that handbook without reading
it first. When I saw him chuckling, I skimmed through the book and
disallowed everything except a restricted version of Enhanced Healing.

Just my opinion, of course. If your GM is actually going to use Ranged
Hands, he or she will just have to make up rules for it.

Blessings,

_TNX._

I wouldn't allow it in a cyberpunk campaign, but it makes sense,
in a way. In many of the pulp karate fiction/movies, a 'master' could
hit the ground, and someone would get hit, or hit a wall with someone on
the other side, and hit them...if I were playing a Superhero campaign...;)

It works just like any other hand to hand combat, except that the damage
done is more than normal. So you do use impact armor, you can get hit by
your opponent instead of you hitting them, etc.

If I were you I'd wait for Awakenings (AKA the NAGM, AKA the NAGA) to come
out before introducing this power into your game...

I'd say you can, unless one of the two expressly says you can't.
