Ya know, I was thinking of asking this same question. Does anyone have a
"self-pic" btw? I think we should have the "ShadowRN 'Whos' Who' page
reborn. It'll give me something to do after Monday (like I don't have enough
now ;).

You know, I keep saying I am going to get a picture of the tattoo, but I haven't
done it yet. However, I do have a picture of me, and I would be willing to donate
space online to put up a gallery of the who's who if people wanted to do that.

Hmmm, does anybody out there kept a copy of my "attachment test"
after we moved to this server. I never kept a digital copy of that
picture. And yes, that was me dressed as The Big C from my Cthulhu 4

Like the GenCon pics aren't something like that already... :) (Which
reminds me that I still have to scan the ones I took.)

Yeah, but I wanna see if we can come up with something more complete, having
a more encompassing list of everyone. Any takers?

It reminds me very much of the page Tinner set up, and then did again some
time later. I don't see why we couldn't give it a third try, sure.

Tinner, do you have any of the "real" pictures anymore? I don't want the
jokes/crap images that some people sent in. We're real people here, lets'
show that fact.

Agreed. Should a page like this be set up, IMHO it should only have photos
in which you can _see_ what each person looks like. (That means you too,
MC23 :)

However, I don't have any recent (less than a few years old) photos of
myself, except the one in my passport, so I can't really give the right
example... (Though several listmembers have taken my picture at GenCon, so
perhaps that might work. This would also be a solution for lots of other
listmembers who have a similar problem, or no access to a scanner, or
whatever.)

I'm happy to have a go at it - I already have pics of a lot of folk anyway

If it matters, some old pictures of me can be found at the long-neglected
URL http://users.arn.net/~remo; feel free to go there and ridicule the
place. Be warned: There's almost nothing there more recent than 1997.

Sorry, I'm not into yearbook type pictures. The closest thing I have
anyway is from MOC 8, I think, back when I was 23 (the first time B>P# ).
That was an action shot anyway. My hair is a wee bit shorter now as well.
So once again I will have to decline. The chance to see what someone
looks like is fine but I don't care for the importance placed upon it. If
the only way someone can get in a who's who is to have a picture then I
find the endeavor misdirected. I have no problem with bios although I'll
admit I'm more curious to how others see me so I'd rather have somebody
else write my bio anyway.

Go screw yourself. The Eeyore doll (which still sits on my computer)
means a lot to me and my friends do see him as a reflection of my
personality as well. That picture was originally used on a friend's
website because it was so fitting (especially since I shun the camera).
I am a real person and not some presentation put forth. Pictures are
all pretense, nothing but a desired projected image. They give you the
illusion of familiarity without any understanding of the person at all.
There is something wrong if you need an image to feel any type of
closeness to a person.

I know that I have a few pics running loose, but in all honesty I would
rather save the space on HHH for upcoming stuff (classified...and I do mean
it this time). But, the other option would be to at least create a central
"link section" for all the player/people pics we can get.

Lehlan, are you still around? I know of only two people on this list who
even have the beginning ability to write a bio on MC23, because he's made

Valid points, both of you, however, next time, be a bit nicer about it.

15 megs at XS4ALL, and just about unlimited at shadowrun.html.com, AFAIK.
I'm not entirely sure how much space I'm using at my XS4ALL account, but I
guess it's about 10 MB. Plenty of room to host a picture archive for a
couple dozen listmembers, I'd say.

Okay, so now that several of us s.h.c-people have mentioned that that site
has all the space we could wish for, how about setting up a separate
section there? Or maybe at jackpoint.org (but keep it away from the
general public, else they might look at the pics before subscribing, and
be scared away :)

I too have some space (25MB) left, but I have the hunch, that I've been misunderstand.
What I meant to collect was not pictures of the players, but pictures of your
characters...
If anybody is interested in a Character-pics - collection feel free to tell me.
I would be happy to host something like this...

In actuality, you do need an image to feel closeness to a person. It has
been scientifically documented that people who stare deeply into each others
eyes (as opposed to talking on the phone, holding hands while sitting right
next to each other) report more feelings of closeness than others.

Of course, this is the internet and one of the great joys of the internet is
not being stereotyped by what you might look like (allowing you to screw up
your relationships with others based on what you say, rather than how you
look). The world is heading to that whole global village thing everyone was
spouting a few years back.

So, a question on topic: Does having character sketches of prominent NPCs
aid you in personifying said NPCS? Elhran, Harlequin, and Lugh Surehand
spring to mind of NPCs we do have pictures of, while Damien Knight,
Fastjack, and others are still up in the air? Which do you find easier to
personify?

You must have missed it, but I had already officially volunteered on-list

Would you include fairly detailed word sketches and enough personal
discussions and data to get a feel for who they are? If no, not always.

But is that because those people who need images/faces etc for closeness
intrinsically seek it out, thus feeling closer when they do it this way?

More feelings of closeness does not mean that you must have it as
you first stated. Also there is nothing that proves this feeling has any
"real" merits. Writers have always had a profound effect on their readers
through out the ages with having their picture adorned on their books. We
could also discuss various religions which do not promote any sort of
graven image and whether that effects their faith.
Truth be told, man as a whole is a visually driven creature. This
can lead to many deceptive conclusions. Because of this I will often
challenge such behaviors in hopes of enlightening the masses (I'd settle
for a few).

Wouldn't that be your camera's flash reflecting off the shiny bit in my
camera's flash element? At any rate, all I have is one _very_ dark photo
in which you can just make out the outline of someone holding a camera,
provided you know what's supposed to be in the picture :(

I was joking... Guess I didn't do it right, though :) By all means, go
ahead with the page -- I've already got more stuff that I want to do than
I have time for.

No, it's your flash. However, if you look at the picture I took, you can see
the "zone" of the flash in the entire hallway throwing shadows. That camera
of Mikes' does have a "Killer Power" to it. Also, I was standing between you
and those really big windows, so you probably got additional visual problems
there.

-K (who likes the idea of occasionally hiding from anothers' camera because
he's simply so *evil* that the shadow blots him out... ;-)

Oh well... in the end it doesn't change the fact that my photo failed :(

I too have some space (25MB) left, but I have the hunch, that I've been misunderstand.
What I meant to collect was not pictures of the players, but pictures of your
characters...
If anybody is interested in a Character-pics - collection feel free to tell me.
I would be happy to host something like this...

It's a good idea, too, but it hinges on the assumption that good
roleplayers are good artists as well :) I know I most certainly am not, so
I don't have anything to contribute to an archive like this, and I guess
this goes for the majority of the people on this list... (Unless you want
an archive full of Dirk Benedict pictures ;)

This might be true... I once knew a girl capable of drawing really
good character pics...
But she was a lousy role-player...

But I still hope that some of you out there might be capable of BOTH,
drawing and roleplaying...
So send me you pics... By the way: You can do great things with the PC
(Personal Computer, bot Player characters) to get good pics...
