Most of the time pins and needles are used to keep bones in a straight line so
that they heal in a hopefully normal fashion. However, if the pins and
needles are stuck inside a person, they are now using some type of coral to
mimic bone, which will eventually be replaced by the person's body with normal
bone as time passes. Though this is not possible with some parts of the body
from what I understand at the moment though.
