I know, I used them a couple of times like that. But as Gurth can
tell you, this kind of adventures quickly turn into an old-fashioned
A$&$ slaughter-party. The approach without any heavy weaponry can
give you a lot of new entries for runs: get some decent weaponry
while keeping out of the hands of the Bugs, gangs, whatever; or gain
support from gangs, local people, etc.

Yes, that is a danger I didn't actually take into account when I
thought of the idea of the plane-crash, but it doesn't have to be
that bad. Magicians without support don't stand a chance against
the bugs and you can always take away spell-locks, fetishes, foci,
etc. if you think the mage is to powerfull. Just let the sec-officer at the
airport detect the stuff and force them to place it in the luggage.
Also magicians already suffer pretty good by the restrictions on
spirits and elementals.

Which is fun occassionally, but not forever... It just gets annoying
throwing yet more insect spirits at the players all the time. After a
while I just went "And you kill another bunch of flesh forms. Cross off X
rounds" because I didn't feel like slowing down the game any more with
pointless encounters with roaming insect spirits...

What I found the biggest problem with Bug City is that I as a GM had to
adapt to totally different kinds of adventures than I was used to. The
players had no goal except for "getting out of the city" without having
the slightest idea how, which didn't help me one bit at all :( Now the PCs
are out of Chicago and have been "hired" by the UCAS government through
some Tir Tairngire elves in order to perform a few missions against
remaining UB assets -- the first one is in Quebec...
