I am trying to think up a nice plot for a Shadowrun module and
was wondering if you all
could help me. This is for a convention so I am limited to a 4
hour game. I read the SR news
letter about the enemy and using them in a game. That was
interesting to me as well as perhaps a toxic shaman trying to
bring them over. Is this possible or can only blood magic do
it? also where would be the best setting for such an adventure,
and does anyone have any idea what the stats would be for one of
the enemy, also is there any material on the enemy besides just
novels?

Well, considering that the new line developer of Shadowrun isn't too
keen on the Horrors (the real term for the enemy) (and no, I don't
want to start this thread again, GridSec please kill any thread on
this subject), it's really not too convention-friendly. But the
teaming up of a blood mage and a toxic shaman? That'd be one hell of a
game. You've got these two wreaking havoc through the Barrens (just
imagine that chaos) and the runners are hired by Lone Star to stop the
bodies from piling up. Makes sense, right? Lone Star doesn't want to
send troopers into the Barrens, so who will? Some patsy. The runners.
So they first gotta find out who's killing all of these people. First
part is how to do that. Players are remarkably creative when given a
problem like this. It's got all the fun of a detective story with that
big fight at the end with the Toxic Spirits and Blood Spirits thrown
in. Oh, and don't forget the background count :^). That's one game I'd
want to play in.

Actually, there is one potentially worse than this. Instead of a Team Up,
how about a "Bad Guys Competition?" <Casanova Frankenstein>Stick with me
Strago ... and you will scream again</Casanova Frankenstein>

A renegade blood mage who has broken ranks has recently relocated to a place
(let's pick the Payallup Barrens, more room to maneuver IMHO). Problem is, a
Toxic Dog Shaman has also staked a claim to the territory in question. Now
then, instead of duke it out like good little Darwinian Survivalists, they
come up with a better scheme. Let's see who can come up with the worst
disaster.

Now remember, Toxic Shamans that complete a list of goals get more "powerful"
as they complete more and more things on their "Agenda". You could do the
same thing for the Blood Mage. It becomes a sort of race to discover which
one can amass the more power in a limited amount of time.

Enter the Player-Characters.

They are the "Pest Control Agents" for this one. They get to track down the
two conquesting buttholes and "deal with 'em in their own discression". Who
hires them? Well, Draco Foundation might have a lead (and you know, for
¥1,000,000 per living captured individual, that's a nice piece of change) and
want them dealt with. Aztlan/Aztechnology might need that mage alive, and
they don't agree or sanction this little "competition" that is going on, but
they lack the ability to immediately respond in kind (that and the potential
collateral damage could be intensely high, and they need "deniable
terro...er, uhm...assets" to apprehend the one and remove the other).

The list is enormous for this one, and could lead to lots of near-freeform
activities even for a Convention (which admittedly isn't always the best
thing, but who cares when you're having fun).

Yes, yes, I know ... I came up a "Slugfest Game" for a convention. But hey,
it could work... ;-)

Oh my god, K, I think I know someone who you should team up with. The two of you
together would be just frightening. Oh, and Dave, try this one at home and see
how the players scream (speaking of screaming, I'm still waiting for the .wavs of
the screams of pain anguish and sorrow) :^)

<SNIP K's EXCELLENT IDEA>
WOW! I got shivers just thinking about it.

*Strago walks off thinking 'now if only I was a good enough GM to pull this one
off...'*

You want more ideas of the same scale.... watch a show called "Brimstone" on
the scifi channel on Fridays. Gives me all sorts of twisted schemes. The
one that was on the other night concerning "Mary" (IIRC) was unreal. Talk
about Toxic Shamans with an attitude problem....

What book would I look in for info on Blood Mages?
