Granite,

You said that there's one Chief per department and one Captain per
division. I just wanted to double check because I thought
departments were subsets of divisions and that divisions where
subsets of precincts.

Confused (as usual :),

Yea..I know this question was posed to me last week..I have been
having some mailer problems..that have only recently been worked
out..

Well..perhaps it goes both ways..as an example..the Sheriff's
Department I work for is divided into 2 divisions..the Patrol Division
is again divided into departments or sections [ie,
investigations,patrol,ect]..This holds true for the local Police
Departments as well..except they are not large enough to have
divisions...As for a Precinct..I am not certain but I believe that it
works by dividing a larger city into sections [precincts]..And should
therefore come after Department and before Division..IE; Chicago
Police Department, Precinct 13....
