Incredible! I don't think I know of one in existance that the pages weren't
falling out from the binding. Although I got a BABY, I'm always hesitant
about buying a hardback version of a game. My SR2 is separating from the
covers, in much the same way as my Earthdawn book. And neither one of them
has seen very much use at all. My softbacks may get a bit scratched up, and
the occasional accidental dog-ear, but I'm almost always more satisified
with how they stand up compared to the hardbacks.

My SR3 is already separating. Anyone got a suggestion? It's too late to
return it to the store from which I bought it.

Don't treat your books so badly?

It is the way of roleplaying (especially shadowrun-Ed) books to
disintergrate, its part of FASA's plan :).
I treat mine with the utmost care, and all but VR2 (which he just
bought-Ed) are raggedy and my copy of SR2 is in pamphlet form held
together by Gaffa tape (ahhh gaffa tape is there nothing it cant do- ED)

If the covers are just kinda tearing at the spine, then use packaging tape- it looks like
big
Scotch tape, is practically invisible, and holds well. If the binding is coming off the
pages,
well... I dunno what to tell you. I got my SR2 spiral bound, and my SR1 hole punched and
put into a binder. Those ideas work best in my opinion, but if you get it spiral bound,
use
that strong-as-steel plastic binding. the Metal binding bends too easily.

Call a library and ask where they have their books re-bound. They may
also have other advice.

actually, mine began coming apart about, well, the day I got it. I put
it into my SR dragonskin as soon as I git it, but the binding began to
come apart that night (read: the first time I opened it). I'm kind of
annoyed actually. Anyone know why it's happening?

At some point in the printing / binding / shipping process, the
book was exposed to heat for a long time, probably by being exposed to
sunlight or left in a hot vehicle for several hours. The glue then =

crystallized, and the result is that the first time you opened it, it
started to come apart.
It could also be that not enough glue was used. Most books, if
exposed to sunlight and heat for a long period of time, will not start
falling apart, especially if given time to cool down. If there isn't enou=
gh
glue... well.

I tried this for my Earthdawn hardcover. It would have cost far more than I'd
paid for the book in the first place.

(Of course, the ED hardcovers appear to have been bound much worse than the
SRII hardcovers.. Very flimsy cardboard. My SRII has withstood the test of
time, and I have *very* high hopes for the SR3 BABY.)
