And, hey, if you keep the soldier inside it when you grind it up
then the resulting sludge will _also_ impede Astral travel!

Hey, thats an ineteresting question. Does dead organic matetr impede astral
travel? I always thought only living tissue did the trick.

That was my point..when the cells of the dead guy cease functioning then
the tissue would no longer be a barrier..

depends on the circumstances. A guard that you just shot through the head, may
be "dead" - but most of his body would not be, so you could not travel through
him.

On the other hand - grinding up a guards or blowing him up with a grenade into
the stomach would mean massive cellular death - you could go on through.

Also - A person that was killed by use of a combat spell would not impeded
astral travel - every single cell in the body is hurt or toasted.

Remember though that murder will cause an astral background count, and grinding
up a recently dead body would probably make an even strong count.

But, my thwap-worthy theory still has a practical application.
Rig your power armor with remotely triggerable explosives. If there is
need for that type of screen, hit the button and write a polite letter to
the next of kin.
Can't you just see the UCAS Marines doing that? Well, okay, me
neither...but 'tis possible if you run a majorly inhuman cutthroat type
of game. [New motto of the UCAS Marines: We're looking for a few good
men...and some cannon fodder who can operate power armor!]

Grinding up a still live body would create a better one :-)
