John Fikouras argued that we should not confuse munchkins with power gamers. I
disagree. Has anyone ever confronted a munchkin and have him/her ADMIT it? I'm
tempted to ask JD or Doom or our Fearless Leader to add a line to the list
of the defining characteristics of munchkins - they always deny it. Say by
invoking a 'high powered' game. As far as I can tell a 'high powered' game just
means that ALL of the players are munchkins.

I'm curious, so as a question to the old timers on the list - have you ever
seen a munchkin say "Yup, I'm a munchkin and proud of it".

Nope. I know I certainly wouldn't have admitted it back when I
was thirteen or fourteen and created ultra-high-level AD&D characters
from scratch just so I could say I'd done so.

Easily done, though that section is actually a little long the
way it now stands. I'll try to remember to do that later on.

I am a munchkin at times. At other times, I play characters that I just
enjoy. (Not that I don't enjoy munchkin characters, it just depends on
the game) I know that several of my GMs will kill a character that cannot
survive very well on its own. Hmm. This didn't come out so well as
perhaps it should have. The power level in some of our games encourages
munchkinous characters while it does not in other games. And I play
appropriate characters to whichever campaign I'm in.

Yep and as a matter of fact, I have one in my current group. The man openly
denies that role-playing is of any interest to him :) I have many long and
ardious discussions with him (a couple in the middle of a gaming session),
but I think that I am finally getting through to him :) I cant wait to
try Harlequin II on his munchkin head :) Problem is he is a very nice guy
and a fun person to be with, so everyone (including me) wants him to stay.

I have met ONE. She is a bit old to be a munchkin, but has all the other
characteristics [including only playing games by T$R] - and when she read
the definition she was forced to agree. Only problem is persuading her
that its not a compliment......
