Oh, so that's what they cost! Funny how I end up paying $30 for
sourcebooks and $52 for the Denver box... $18 is what I pay for
adventures...

And if you didn't get that, the .fi in my email address stands for
Finland. :-)

Even a "Western Sword" is 500Y, 50Y more than the Predator. And who would
want a hand made steel sword when you can get a MODERN weapon with the
latest alloying techniques.

Someone that has a habit of dealing with things that require armed/unarmed
combat as opposed to firearms, aka toxic spirits?

how about someone who feels that old craftsmanship is better than modern
methods? I have played a street sam who payed several thousand nuyen just to
have what he considered a "quality" weapon..just because he had faith in the
smiths. No number crunching, just roleplaying.. btw..if you want good quality
folded-steel japanese swords made by smiths from Japan..expect to pay (for high
quality) around 15-25k. Yep. ouch.

Hi, and a happy new year to you all!

Does anyone know of any lists of prices listing services? I was wondering
how people handled the services of contacts, eg if a contact is a
bodyguard, and the charecter wanted to use his services for a run, how
much he would charge? same for decking, really.. any ideas, or has
someone aloready thought of this and put up a web page?

cheers

John

Depends on the fees for pc. If a pc hired to play bodyguard gets x nuyen,
then so does the npc.
That said I would go for 250 to 500 nuyen per day, depending on the danger.
( also this would no include following somebody when he does an b&e in an
research lab. ).

I am pretty sure that all the prices for services can be found in the Shadowrun Companion
along with all the suggested payoffs for PC Shadowrunners.

The group I'm gming has no decker - but one as buddy. If they need one
they usually hire her just like any other Johnson would hire one. They
tell her what they want and what they are willing to pay. If I think
the price is appropriate for the work I accept it - else we begin to
negotiate.

In general this ends up with a half of that what a regular pc gets for
the entire run if the decker dosn't have to come with them - and this of
course counts not for the contact upkeep.

Err, I dunno, but for a professional bodyguard, that
seems pretty low. I mean, the assumption of the job is
that someone is gunning for the target. I think most
people would want a LOT of money to take a job where
the credo is the bodyguard is supposed to die first.

Really, I guess that 250-500 would be okay for a
regular Joe Bodyguard, (like a "minder"), but someone
like Kevin Costner in "The Bodyguard" (he comes in
when it's known that someone's targeting his employer)
would be a lot more expensive.

The average bodyguard is paid, nowadays, anywhere from $50kUS to $200kUS per
year. People that hire bodyguards generally are affluent people with much
cash flow. Your average Joe can't afford one, and to pay someone to take a
bullet for you is pretty high. The riskier the mark, the more ya gotta pay.
I usually don't make bodyguards available to runners, but if the runners are
going to be hired as bodyguards, I pay them around 7-15k per month, and all
medical expenses are to be paid by the employer. GM's, look at your players
prestige and go from there. It's more important to balance the game play,
than to be "realistic" with pay.
