Can anybody give me a good reason to buy the Prime Runners book?

I've been to the local game store and browsed through this book three
times already, but I still can't understand what the use of the book is...

Then again, I've got everything else FASA has published for SR (that has
had the time to get to Finland), so this book is the only thing that's
missing from my collection -- but I'm a gamer, not a collector.

Any reasons for getting it? They'll give me 20% off until the end of April...

You need NPC's and don't have the time to make 'em up? Use PR. If you have
the time or are a player, then I wouldn't drop the cash.

It is also an abomination of errors. Little things like missing stats and
impossible cyberware combinations.

If I had a copy of my own, I'd sell it to you for less. It isn't worth
cover or 20% off of cover. There's too many errors and not enough useful
info. If you still can't decide then don't buy it, wait about two months,
and I'll bet the place'll sell it to you for 30% or more off.

And Nerps:Edge Runners has better npc's, IMHO.

It also contains odd combinations that don't serve the character
concept (like the Irish Assassin). Frankly, the only strength I found in
this book were one or two interesting character concepts that could be
used for other characters by the GM.

If you're a GM with not enough time or inspiration this might be a good help.
If your players don't have the book (or are good enough players to not play
with player knowledge :), you can get cool characters out of it.

But creating your own does give you a feeling of ... enjoyment? IMO...

Agreed. IMHO

Ah yes and its not as if they even made a good job of breaking the
system when they tried! My version of a superfast- stack the bonuses
phsad rolled a 55 for initative vs the PC's [needless to say used at
a 'leave off or next time its physical damage' manouver, like the guy
got about three actions first and beat the old initative record held
by the astral force 10 queen bug. (usual source [and normally only]
of rolls over 50)

I bought it... I thought it was interesting... gives a lot of insight
into the types of people that lurk about in the SR universe... maybe some
ideas for adventures... outside of that... not much...
