I don't think we should make Psionics skill-based. Making the
mechanics similar to Psionics seems best as we are all (hopefully) already
familiar with the system. And are we going to go with our fearless
leader's idea of specialization types (i.e. Telekinetic punch). If so,
then another good system that uses this type is GURPS Supers. I borrowed
it from a friend of mine once and it had all kinds of additions and
limitations to each power, makiung a myraid of possibilities for each one.

I also have a suggestion for FL's idea. Perhaps we could make
each power like a spell class. Just like for spells there is Combat,
Manipulation, etc. for Psionics there could be Telekinesis and whatever
other powers there were. You would pay whatever points to be able to
access the category and spend additional points to be able to use the
powers in each category. This way, the character could either be very
focused on group, such as telekinetic manipulations, or diverse, knowing
many categories but having little initial power. Or he could just be
something in-between. You get the picture.

So what say ye'?

Oh, and maybe we should move this over to NERPS. This might be a
good idea since there have been responses stating that readers of Shadowrn
don't want to read it and NERPS is pretty dead as you said. Perhaps this
could "liven" up the group?

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh. You took my idea away you brilliant
person! To think, having my idea stolen by a future ruler of the world.
I *must* be brilliant.

But seriously, perhaps more categories of Psionics would be in
order. There is a lot possible, but we don't want to risk there being so
many categories out there that they flood the "Psionic Market."

My thinking was that before we move it to NERPS (which is more for
submitting stuff), we need to decide the mechanics, and this list if more
suited for that. Once we determine how Psi works and what rules will
best MAKE it work, then we can move it and people there can start sending
in power duggestions and whathaveyou.

Telekinesis
Telepathy
Teleportion
CyberPsionics (the ability to project psionic energies through
the matrix to a sentient target on the other end. I'm
too tired to explain it right now, but I have an concept
on this that actually makes sense.)
Metamorphonics (change your body)
Metapsionics (these are larger and more grandioses abilities that tend
to effect other psionic abilities, like being able to link
several psis together and other weird shit.)
Divination [need a better word] (things like the ability to
pick up an object and tell things about the people that
used it, precognition, ESP [you feel as if you are being
watched], etc)

Well, there's some ideas.

Was it I that stole away your idea. If anyone read my Psi
abstract they would have known all along that this is how I would like to
run psionics
