Confusion is fun!

resident Zen-Dude might be able to add additional insight. PSI RATING =
ESSENCE - BODY Essentially, as long as you are pure of mind and body, you
have PSI power. If your corrupt it (by cyberware or bioware), you can
invade that purity and decrease your power. (I think it is too much of
a pain to try to calculate what form of what cyber gives you what kind
of losses. just use straight essence.)

For the purposes of preventing an already forming ulcer that would
evidently occur due to calculating essence costs for every piece of
bio/cyberware, I agree with treating essence/Psi loss the same as magic.

with a shake of expierience and training, it can make one a formidable
foe.

When you say mastery level, you mean your level of Psionic
Initiation right? Right? Please say I'm right!

And then the character will proceed to get all cybered up and kick
some ass! Works for me! Screw the damn cords, hook me up with Wired
Reflexes 3!

Works for me since we do have a precedent with old Darth. But
just for the hell of it, THWAP!!!!!! (Proceeds to put up his Anti-Thwap
Psionic Barrier that is an undocumented Psionic Ability)

Okay, according to Robert's proposal, would a psi with an essence of 6 and a
body of 4 have a Psi rating of 2? Maybe my brain is cramping on me, but that
doesn't seem to make sense. IMHO the Psi rating would relate both essence and
the strength of will, PSI= (Willpower+Essence)/2

I like the force of will idea, and that makes sense that as a psi's learning
progresses, so will his ability to seperate himself from the 'confines' of his
or her body.

Take a look at the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game for some cool Psi (Jedi)
powers. I don't have a copy anymore, but there were some pretty good ones, and
I think that they had some good rules for ranges and incorperated things like
telepathy between a close friend versus a total stranger (the later being more
difficult).

You are right.

Right, but, as I said, view this meta-power from the realism perspective,
not from the rules (we can build quasi-artificial balances in).
