I thought current prosthetics only gave very limited feedback (if any),
and certainly don't interface with severed nerve endings. That might
explain why psychosis is not a problem today.

Particularly with the agressive advertising aimed at them by

Yeah, especially sence this is the same media that makes spellcasting
look easy and painless.
