Why do you need four FM transmitters? I used to work in a EMI/RFI job,
you only need ONE transmitter and a bunch of antennas (assuming standard
FM [97-150 Mhz] radio). The transmitter/power boosters are NOT!!!!
cheap. But a single, precision tuned dipole antenna, can be made for
$30.00 US right now !!!! I would assume that a pirate trid would have a
fixed base and a lot of cheap throwaway antennas. One could connect the
antenna to the fixed base by a hard wired link that would be very untraceable
if done right.

note: I'm NOT advocating that someone actually do this, but a 100 KW
amplifier in the 10-100Mhz range can be bought from "Amplifier Research"
(they're on the web) for about $5000, and the actual transmitter can be
bought from Radio Shack for $20. Put these two together with a tuned
dipole antenna (recall that l=2 * wavelength y'all) so each half must be
n* 1/2 of the 2*wavelength where n is an integer mulitple, and POOF! you
are on the air. Oh each half of the tuned antenna must be balanced to
the other or you get mismatch which will make you lose net power.

With a 100kw transmitter and a good antenna, Cleveland can talk to
Detroit without breaking a sweat

Bill
