Hey, chummers.

First of all, I apologize for this rather non-relevant missive.
However, I thought that you ladies and gentlemen would be the most
capable of assisting me.
Some of my players have expressed a distinct interest in a
fantasy RPG. Now, they are not necessarily looking for an **&*-type
RPG. Quite the contrary.
To get to the point, I'm asking you what fantasy RPG(s) you, the
list.members, recommend. Earthdawn would be nice since I am already
accustomed to FASA, but other companies' FRPG's would be great, too. You
see, since I am already used to the SR system, I would like an FRPG I
move to easily. As you, too, are used to the SR system, I thought that
you would be the best help. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated. My players and I thank you ahead of time.

If you think ED's game system works in the same way as SR's you're mistaking
:) Many of the ideas lying behind the game's history are the same as in SR,
but the actual game system is quite different. My own FRPG experience is not
so great as far as different systems are concerned, but maybe it will help
anyway:

A*&*: IMO you _could_ make a good ROLE-playing game out of this if you alter
the rules a bit -- like chop out the alignments and rework the magic system
a bit (Who ever though up that bit about forgetting spells once you've cast
them?!)
Earthdawn: This one's my favourite, though I bet people would disagree.
MERP: err, no thanks.
RoleMaster: Better than MERP, though I found it a bit more complex than the
others above. Maybe because I only played one session :)
