I've been playing the Shadowrun game since about '89, and I've followed
the world development with a fair amount of interest.... I'm wondering if
there is an underlying common theme behind the way you've warped or mutated
the world (besides the return of magic).

From the look of it you taken the political sitution of most
countries/nations/continents and set them back to how they were about
100-300 years ago. Because this is on the list I'm going to provide
examples.

America - Think; the civil war... north vs. south, etc.
Russia - Balkanised, pre USSR style
Germany - Balkanisation... Think of the city states before the
unification by Bismarck
Arfica - The Zulu nation
Australia - Untamed (untamable) wilderness, no settlement
expect by indigines
England - Industrialised nightmare, with a totalitarian regime.

(And I'm sure there are more)

Of course, the analysis breaks down if you look at it really closely, but
it seems that that's the common theme.... Just wondering if it's
deliberate or not.

If it is deliberate, then it raises all kinds of possibilities for
recurring patterns in world development. Should we expect some kind of
war to break out between CAS and UCAS?

Also, can some of the Americans on the list tell me which president it
was that got assasinated (not JFK) by the guy with the hold-out pistol?
It was some time ago.
I'm thinking of parralels to Dunkelzahn here..... but of course I could
be way off on a tangent.

....And they say that those who do not know their history are condemned to
repeat it....

From my understanding, and this could be way off, the CAS was more likely to go
to war with Aztlan over New Mexican lands. But war in North America would still
be present none the less.

Lincoln was assasinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865. Note this occured after
the surrender of Lee at Appomatox (sp?). Because of this little tid bit, the
corrolation to Dunkelzahn has a small hole in it, butit is worth mentioning none
the less. And yes, there are some stiking similarities in the political
breakdown throughout the world.

Apart from the cast, how exactly?

Weren't all of them except Kennedy? Lincoln was killed with a Derringer,
McKinley was killed with a hold-out at the Pan Am Fair in 1901, and so was
Garfield(?) in a train station. Reagan was almost killed with a snub-nosed
revolver in 1981.

The german states were not exactly city states, but anyway, you're right.

Is there an Australian Sourcebook? I always thought I would like one,
and if there is one already I needn't write it myself ;)

I was thinking of Lincoln mainly, because he was a statesman.... i had no
idea so many other presidents were also shot.

Mike, if your reading this; what's the current status on the book?

We're still doing an unofficial one for NERPS, but if the real one's

Thanks. Lincoln was killed by a fanatic, McKinley by an anarchist, and
Reagan was shot by an obsessive nutcase (he's in a mental institute)
trying to impress Jody Foster.

Well, look at anywhere in the Middle East. The Soviet Dis-Union, or
England, with the IRA problems. America has it easy. In the above cases
(let's leave Kennedy out of this) we had the actions of one man doing it.
Not so for most countries.
