I reckon in an unconcious person, the subconcious mind would resist,
making it harder (higher threshold?). The subconcious would would also
remember, which would probably result in dreams/nightmares and de-ja-vu
experiences when they woke up. Maybe the person would have an
irrational, unexplainable hatred for the person who probed him, even
though he may not know who he is. I read that in a sci-fi short
onetime. It was about a guy who used a dream transmission machine to
delve into the minds of fanstasy induced coma patients, to break them
out the the 'dream' they were in. When the patient awoke, they wanted
to tear their benefactor apart, though they didn't know why or who he
was.

Don't mess with peoiple minds. They do a good enough job themselves
