I recently recieved e-mail from someone asking me to send them copy of a
"players handbook" for SR. I was confused for a moment until I reallized that
they were asking me to send them a copy of the rulebook, at which time I
responded. I pointed out that I don't like breaking copyright laws. So I asked
if they had any specific questions I could address for them. Instead he writes
to me and asks me to send him the SR character building rules. My question is,
is it legal to send this guy chargen rules if they aren't verbatum(sp?) from
the text? All help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can summarize or help explain questionable points, but IMO, while
re-writing the rules to send to someone may not be breaking the law, it
isn't an ethical thing to do.

I agree with you. I've written the guy and recommended that he go out and buy
the SR main book of his choice. And that if he didn't have the money to do so,
to go to the library and check a copy out. My library here in Renton has about
three copies readily available.
