In my game one of the characters has selected the amnesia flaw, and
flashback flaw. The decker wants to jack into the other guys brain and
root around in his headware memory to see if he can pick up any clues
about his former existance.

I don't see any problems in doing this
1) All the decker will be able to access will be the headware memory.
Which has been conviently wiped by the amnesiac using his cyber
eyes/camera recently.
2) The decker will NOT be able to access the actual brain type memories.
He might be able to "hear" the amnesiac's surface thoughts and emotions.

Thoughts, comments, snide remarks?

Actually, we've done something similar with Bull in the past, and you are
correct (at least as far as our game went) about how it works.

We had a character, Oni, played by our group looney, who was cybered to the
hilt. He tried to cram as much cyber and bioware as possible into his
body, and when he had .05 essence left over, he begged the GM for a Cyber
Appendix!

Well, this began evil ideas for Tinner, and so George got the "Mysterious
Cyberware" flaw about 6 months before the Companion came out...:]

In the end, we found that the character had be cybermanced by Renraku, and
that they had suppressed the "hosts" original personality with a
"programmed Personality", which resulted in a Schizo Android. I ended up
"Hacking" his brain with Bull, trying to suppress the "Oni"
personality. I
wasn;t able to access the original personality or memories, but was able to
access everything about the Oni personaliity, since it was all programmed in.

So, I'd say you were doing it right, as long as your GM allows you to "deck
the brain"...:]

Unless the person performed a download on their headware memory, anything
that has been recorded on them will still be there.

A standard decker should not even be able to maneuver around inside a
person's head beyond their cyber, if it is allowed then the person's brain
should be considered as a UV host for all intents and purposes, with the
ACIFS being reflected in the attributes (mental) of the person.

Access = Willpower + Charisma
Control = Willpower + Intelligence
Index = Intelligence + Length of time of memory sought (see Mnemonic Enhancer
in Shadowtech)
Files = Intelligence
Slaves = Willpower

A note on this, an otaku should be able to do this sort of thing quite
easily, as mentioned somewhere within Black Madonna where Salai enters into
Michael Sutherland's brain and implants some memories into him.
