Hey all,

My player's just started playing a few weeks ago, and I started them
out dealing with the Arc shutdown. They managed to get out of the
arc, with Sherman Huang's family in tow. Now they have managed to
find a way to contact Huang, and I'm thinking he's going to ask them
to extract him from Renraku. He has the suspicion that Renraku is
going to blame him for the problem (being the president of Renraku
North America and all). He decides that the runners, who already have
his family safe, are a perfect opportunity to get out of Renraku while
the getting's good.

Now I have two questions: a) how much should they get paid and b)
where should Huang want them to take him? As for payment, I intend
for this to be a one shot large payoff that will help the characters
get established in Seattle, most of the mission has been building
contacts. On the other question, from what I understand of Shadowrun,
most extractions involve removing a person from one corp so that they
can work for another. Haung doesn't really want to work for some
other corp, I'm thinking, so what should be the goal of the run, other
than keeping him alive?

Wow. You like to play with the big plots, eh? Going after Damien
Knight next? :)

Well, the pay should be ludicrous, 'cause if the mission isn't
ludicrously difficult, it won't be realistic. And where should they
take him? Well, think of it from Huang's POV. Where will he (and, I
assume, his family) be safe? Who can protect them? How will they
support themselves if Renraku freezes their assets? Etc, etc.

A) A ridiculous amount of cash and gear since the death ratio
will/would be extreme. They could pretty much ask for whatever they
want.

B) Where to take him ? There is only really one answer to this.
Another corp cause that is the only place on earth he will ever be
safe. Or ofcause if he doesn't mind they can drop him of in some uber
nation like the Tirs if they want him, he would be sort of safe
there. He just can't really go solo and get away with it.

Hmm some extra thinking brings me to another possible conclusion
thou. If Haung can get with him or get the runners to dig up the big
time paydirt on Renraku he can use that to sort of become "free" in a
general "let me go or i'll tell the world" kinda scenario.

QUestion A has been the subject of great discussion to the list, and I've yet
to hear a good consistant set of guidlines come out of it. It comes down to
how much money do you want you players to have!

Question B Is something I can help you with. OK, assuming that he want's out
of Renku period, I'd assume that he has resources salted away somewhere where
the corp cant find them. Given this sort of thing, I would say that the
runners need to break him out, stage some sort of diversion that makes Renku
think the guy is dead so they don't come after him, then smuggle the suit and
his family to his private Island somewhere down in Pirate... excuse me... the
Carribian Alliance. Or maybe its out in the south Pacific.

Possible opposition falls into three main categories: Someone in Renku gets
wind of his plans and either uses corp or runner assets to find him and bring
him back. Or they decide that he is to be sanctioned with extreme predjudice
to keep whatever secrets are between his ears secret. The third would be
people between here and there who might see him as a target of oppertunity...
some namless rich person they can make a quick buck off of (Land or sea
pirates, basicly)

Realistic would be a payment with wich the runners can buy a
small island near Hawaii end never be seen in Seattle again
but that's not what you want I guess.

> where should Huang want them to take him?
To a safe place ...

>Haung doesn't really want to work for some other corp.

... which is the problem. Haung knows too much about Renraku
to let him go. Only an other AAA corp has the power to keep
him safe. The other option is to keep Huang and his family
in a secret place for the rest of his life. That seems no
option in my view. And as a top manager Huang surly knows
better what and where to stay than your runners do - at
least he thinks that. Why else is he the top manager and not
those SINless outlaws.

If I where you I'd make the runners dig out a high level
contact who can provide security for Huang and his family.
I'd not let the players organize all those tiny parts
especially if they are 'green horns' in the streets and the
corp life.

Just a suggestion
