There was some discussion earlier in the week about character background
questions, and at the time a few people said that they reward those who come
up with a good background. For example, Bull has a list of 50+ questions at
http://shadowrun.html.com/users/bull/sr/50quest.html
What would be the reward for answering all of them, half of them, writing a
background that answered all of them, some of them? I think this is a great
idea, I am just unsure how to implement it. Thanks.

Well, I used those questions for an AD$D game I ran a couple years ago.
(And let me thank Bull here and now for providing a tool that made even
my former group of ubermunchkins to actually stop, think about their
character, and *gasp* roleplay!) I graded each person's answers on a 100
point scale, then squared the result and gave the character that many
experience points to divy up as they wanted.

For SR, you could grade them on a 10 point scale, and give them karma
equal to their score. If that is too small, double the karma reward. Too
big, then cut it by 1/2. For more of an exponential progression (and this
is the one I'd suggest), divide the result by 2 and square the amount. The
possibilities are endless.
